You can search threads on this forum about your transfer case electric motor.

This happened to mine.... the electric motor has three settings, 4hi, 4lo, and hi. The motor turns to each position, as selected.

Problem: the small internal bushings on the selector wear out and disintegrate. Then the selector, especially for 4lo, goes off the track, too far, and is “lost” by the controller. Lost and stuck in 4 lo.

Solution is to remove transfer case motor, and replace bushings. You can use very small round pieces of vacuum hose, I think.

Then all be well again. Just a possibility. Good luck.

Did you follow the necessary steps to shift out of 4x4 Low? You can shift in and out of 4x4 High on the go, but not 4x4 Low. To shift out of 4x4 Low, you must
1) Stop the truck,
2) Depress the brake,
3) Shift the trans into neutral,
4) Move the 4WD control to 2WD,
5) Wait for the 4WD Low light to go out.

Mine wouldn't shift out of 2HI. The brushes in the shift motor were shot. I just found a used shift motor at my local salvage yard for $10.00. It is an easy replacement.
