2001 Ford 4X4 XLS won't idle.

Hello,
I haven't posted questions in a while, but, I have a newer Explorer and I haven't had it completely inspected.
I drove from Florida to Virginia without any problems.
The 2001 will not idle. It will start with partial pedal but after release drops to stall.

It sounds like your IAC valve might need to be cleaned or replaced. Your profile says 93 Sport. Is this your previous vehicle? Your current vehicle says 2001.

Thank you for responding quickly. This vehicle is my newest Explorer. Yes, it is a 2001. Could you explain what the IAC valve is?

I'm sorry i was not able to reply to your earlier posts. My Dad's internet provider leaves alot to be desired. ( Like good high speed service!)
Hughes.net really is terrible.

I want to thank BrooklynBay and dmac0923 for giving me the answer to the problem I had.
Cleaned up the IAC and the Explorer runs perfect. Wow!!
I worked for Ford for 30 years, but I had very little exposure to the make up of completed engines and their components.
I worked in the Cleveland Casting Plant where most of the castings were made.
