my problem really began four days ago. i went to start my car, and the motor would crank, but it would not fire up. the battery indicator on the dash was pretty much at L. i called AAA and they brought someone to give me a jumpstart, and then i drove down to the AAA station. they could not find anything wrong, but the guy suggested that maybe i had left my lights on, which i definately did not do. they replaced the battery, and tonight i went to start my car. only IT WOULD NOT START!! the battery level was at L, and i got the same exact sounds as before. now, this is a 2001 explorer XLT, which we purchased around the summertime. the previous owner had installed a remote start system to the car, and i believe a custom sunroof. now, why would my car die on me the first time at such a random time? if the system and moonroof were draining the car batteries power, why didnt it do this over the summer? and furthermore, how can a 4 day old battery get drained so quick? this is so frustrating for me. i am planning on calling AAA and having them TOW the car down to the station, no jumpstarting this time, so they can see that it wont start up. can anyone give me some insight as to why this problem is occuring???

Your alternator needs to be tested. It could be that its not properly charging your battery. That would be the first thing I'd check out.

Another possible problem is an interior light stuck on that you hadn't noticed, or some other parasitic drain. You can check with an ammeter on highest setting. Normally, your X will pull less than 100 milliamps when off. if key-off drain is any more than that, start pulling fuses till you find the circuit, and track down the problem. Good luck.
