I just got the Explorer back from a complete trans rebuild (will post pics in previous thread.....:thumbdwn
.
The driveline has been clunking when placed in reverse or placed in forward. This is unrelated to the trans rebuild. Vehicle has 82K on it, the clunking appears to be from the rear driveshaft yoke or one of the halfshafts. I also have a fair amount of gear whine on the freeway, need to really get that gear oil changed. Its original.
So my question is.....drum roll please....is there a typical problem or maintenance issue with either the driveshaft or the half shafts at this mileage count? Can the half shafts be replaced without opening up the differential?
Thanks guys......(still recovering from the bill for the rebuild "hard parts r-us")
