I just bought a 2002 explorer and have some drivetrain issues and i'm looking for input. I have a flashing o/d light , hard shifts into third gear, and an occassional 4x4 high flashing lite.. I had a shop take a quick look (he'll inspect more tomorrow) and he said the tranny is junk.. From what i have read i'm not surprised as i did get a good deal on it ('02 4door xlt, 80k, $4800).. he says that to rebuild will be about $2200 and the flashing 4x4 light is the output speed sensor and will be about $200 to fix.. he says he wants to check the transfer case and rear end as they may have issues.. I have been told he is very reputable so i don't think he'll screw me but is anyone familiar with this that could lend any advice?? He says it may be not worth fixing if they all have problems as to fix the tranny, transfer and rear would be at least $4000... any help??? thanx mike
