There's been a few complaints about the power seats on the new 2002 EB and LTD Explorers. Specifically, the inconvenient and inexcusable location of the power seat switch near the floor.

Furthermore, I have this same "rocker" switch on my '01 Sport and I hate it. It is just about impossible to operate correctly. If you want to just raise or lower the seat you have to push down on, or pull up on the switch exactly right. A hair off and you will tilt up or down. Very annoying to say the least as you really have to fiddle with it a lot to operate the function desired.

I just have a hard time understanding the people who design this stuff. Do they ever really try things out or do they just design it on a computer and send it into production? On my Sport I can barely get my hand down to the switch without opening the driver's door. I have to remove my watch as it scratches the inside of the door!

As well, the "heat" button for the seats is also hidden in the upper indented area of the side of the seat, very hard to access as you have to feel around for it.

That does look like a pretty poor power seat design. I guess we can only hope that Ford will see the flaws in the design and fix it on future models. It would be sooo much easier if they would just do it right the first time.
