I'm ready to pull the engine on my 2002 Explorer AWD SOHC 4.0L and I have a question about the motor mounts.

On the right side of the engine, I believe you have to take the nuts off two
(2) vertical bolts. On the left side of the engine, it's an entirely different set up. Other than one (1) bolt that looks like it's running "horizontally" through both the top and lower attachment points of the mount, I can't see for the life of me any other attachment points.

This seems pretty odd to me that the other side of the motor mount would be so different but the steering shafts knuckle is in exactly the location where two bolts would have otherwise been located.

Thanks guys!

on the driver's side of the V-8 trucks, if you have AWD/4WD you have to drop the entire front Diff to get to the mount itself to remove it.

On the V-8 I pulled the through bolt and left the pad.
