Good morning from where I am folks!
Well it wouldve been good if I wasn't under the fiances explorer!
Over the weekend, she goes to get in it after multiple starts and trips during the day no issue and no codes, and the explorer clicks from the engine bay and underneath, sounds like the starter was bad. Pulled the starter relay and turned the key, no shorts causing lights to flash on dash or nothing, so not ignition wiring. I grabbed a new one and swapped it in, no good
same clicking. Also when I cycle a KOEO self test, I can hear solenoids start around engine bay, then a couple seconds later there's an loud click from the engine bay (throttle body maybe?)and the scanner says "unable to establish communication with DLC"
A few months ago, she had an alternator have an internal short, causing everything to overcharge. Now I know the insulation started smoking but it wasn't peeling off anywhere and loom was still decently in tact.
I'm going to pull all the wiring harness back for the starter/alternator to inspect it, but I figured I'd ask here is this sounds familiar or if there are normal rub through spot from factory (this hasn't been modified at all) that I should keep an eye on. I saw the post about the O2 sensor rub through on the front driveshaft + blown fuse 41 and it appears to be all good
