Well, I may have messed up one or 2 of my pulleys by degreasing the engine with gunk. I have a 2002 xls with 4.0lv6. I degreased it yesterday and then noticed a bearing sound coming from one or two of the pulleys in the serpentine belt system. There is the one pulley on the spring loaded adjuster and then the other fixed pulley toward the middle.
Has anyone had any problems with these pulleys? I pulled them both off and reinstalled and they seemed ok, but I did put a little oil (as best I could) in the bearing area on the one on the adjuster and things seemed to get quiter for a while.
Are these things notorious for going bad?
