2002 XLT 4x4
Guys,

First, hello and thanks in advance for your guidance. Second, I will tell you that I drive a 2002 XLT 4x4...78k miles...mostly interstate driving to work. I have done a little towing with the truck...almost always on the interstate (pulling a four-wheeler) and I almost never disingaged over-drive (dumb). The problem I have is that truck often runs fine...with no slipping. It does have a whining sound when cold. After heating up the whine dies down but the slipping begins. Also, the OD light as only flashed once (very recently). Also unfortuantely, the ATF hasn't been changed in over 50k miles.

Thoughts or recommendations? If need be I will pull it and replace...though I have never done such...need to spend as little a possible these days but need a dependable vehicle. Thaks again!

I got the codes

Here is what they told me a Pep Boys:

Code = 153
02 Sensor circuit
Bank 2
Sensor 1

Does that mean anything to you? Thanks again for your help...it truly makes a difference to me and the fam!

OK...as soon as I change the ATF and filter (this weekend), I'll take it to the shop (I'm afraid of further damage if it is low on fluid.

Also, and perhaps this is important (perhaps not), the issue started by the X stranding a buddy of mine. He said everything was fine, he pulled up to a light and then the car wouldn't go...flooring the gas...no power (and no sound at all). We let the car rest for a while and then we made it home, but there was little power (again...no noise). Could something electrical have malfuntioned and the tranny set itself in "limp" mode (thus the low gear howl)? Again, the above may be nothing but the problem was sudden...no slipping...just nothing from the transmission (power-wise).

Thanks again for your help!!!
