2003 Explorer 4x4 4.0
Hello everyone!

I am new to the forum, and just recently purchased a 2003 EB 4x4 with
the V6. I love everything about the explorer, but my only complaint is that the cruise is not working, everything esle on the sterring wheel works except the cruise. I press the button, and nothing shows up on the dash to indicate it's on, and the cruise will not activate. Is there something I can do to fix it without costing an arm and a leg?

Thank you so much for your help!

Ryan. :D

Thank you so much for the reply, my next question would be, which fuses do I need to check, and where are they located?

Thank you for you help!

Ryan. :)

Hm, my explorer didn't come with a manual. Is there anyone who can be more specific in the location of the correct fuses to check?

Thank you so much!

Ryan.:)

Well, I have checked the fuses, and have tried to bypass the switch, and nothing seems to help. I am not getting a cruise control light on at all. Does anyone have an idea what it could be? The ABS light has come on and off, but that has not happened for a couple of months now. This has been a really long process. I have had alot of stuff going on, thank you so much for helping!

ok...prob the pressure switch on the master cylinder. i had mine go bad...my cruise worked but my abs light would come on at times. that switch is there to shut the cruise off when u step on the brakes.

I have an 04 4.0l explorer with the same problems-ABS light comes on once in a while and cruise control does not work. I just changer the pressure sensor on the master cylinder and still does the same thing. Does anyone have any other ideas? thanks in advance.

Hi, how can we test the pressure switch which de-activates the cruise control. Thanks

Hi. I just un-screw the pressure sensor switch near the master cylinder then let some brake fluid go out from it, clean the connector. Then I returned it, presto my cruise control is working again for almost two weeks now. I guessed that sometimes brake fluid just clogged in the switch.

Another thing too... there was a recall on that very issue. A bad switch in the brake master cylinder or thereabouts causing no cruise was being replaced b/c they were catching on fire. It is supposed to be a simple fix, btw.
