2003 Ford Explorer Issues with Tranny

I'm Jake. I recently bought, rather blindly, a 2003 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition. The car is beautiful, white with tan accessories, 3 rows of leather seats, after market Sat-Nav, after market lights.


But there is an issue.

When you first turn the car on, the car is fine. It goes forward and backwards, everything is good. Then after 15-20 minutes, the car simply won't move, R/N/D/4x4, it won't go.

Anyone else experience this?

I didn't pay too much for the car, I bought it off a hunch, so give it to me straight if you know what to do.

Also, how can I tell what Tranny I have? I have the 4.6L 8, not the 4.0.

How long do you have to wait until it will move again after it stops? Do you have to wait for it to cool down? Can you turn it off and then back on and it will move?

Also do you have a check engine light on? If you do , do you have any codes?
