I just picked up a nice '03 XLT to replace my '95 today, and the one thing the dealer could not find is the card with the keyless entry code. I know on the older models the code was printed on a decal in the drivers side rear compartment (beyond the washer reservoir, pretty far in). Anyone know where it is on an '03? I don't have the 3rd row seat, and looking around the back has been fruitless.

are you

talking about the key pad code on the door ? if yes they can put your truck on computer and bring it up at the dealer

hope this helps

Not sure where it is on the '03's. But, nice Ford dealership...NOT...:D If the card was missing that contained the 5 digit code, then they should have scanned the computer for it. Then shey should have written it down for you so that you would have had it upon delivery of the vehicle. That would be plain common curtesy. They also should not charge you for doing so.

What did you end up finding out?

I am in the same situation. Is the code written somewhere on the vehicle like the old X's, or is the only way to get the code by hooking it up to the Fords computer?

keyless entry code location

Had the same problem. Took it back to the dealer and they put it on the hoist and cheked a tag either on the transmission or the rear end housing and found it.

That doens't make any sense. Big time security issue if it's under the vehcle. Anybody could crawl under the buggy and get the code. Then help themselves to any inside goodies as the factory code will always work regardless of the one you program in. Then what? "Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer, somebody stole my stuff!" And Mr. Officer says "But the vehicle is locked and not broken into". Don't think Ford would open themselves up for this one.

mine was written on the underside of the cargo hatch...don't know if the dealer or someone just wrote it on there or if that's how they came.

just pop open your rear hatch and look at the underside as you open it. mine was written there with a marker i believe. it's a 2000 sport.

$40.00 is the only way

I called around to all the local dealers here in Cleveland and the answers are all the same. The only way to get the keyless entry door code is to hook the truck up to the computer. Everyone wants $40.00. Damn I'm pissed. That's what I get for buying a used car. I thought i was getting a good deal at $1.00 a mile. That is $20k for a 2003 xlt with 20,000 miles. guess it going to more like $1.002 a mile. thanks guys for all your help.

OK, reviving an old thread, but i need to know too. The owners manual says its printed on the computer. Doesn't say which one or where, i would assume the main computer. This brings another question, where is it on the new models? i know its in the firewall on 95-01s like mine but this is my sis's and I'm not sure where the computer is.

It should be on the computer in the back. I have a 2000 E.B. and it is printed on the computer in the back. Open the back driver side compartment where the bottle jack it and look on the computer, it should have a sticker with the code on it. I have installed by alarm through there and it only took about 45 minuter, also, if anyone breaks in, who would think to look at the back computer, except for us X owners.
