Having an issue with starting up my wifes explorer. 2004 4.0 flex fuel engine.
-Battery is full
-Engine has spark
-Cranks normally
-Can hear click of fuel pump followed by a 1 second tone. I don't recall ever hearing this before.

Was going to test fuel pressure but I've found out that the 04 doesn't have the shrader valve for testing? I am at a loss for what to do at this point. Any ideas?

My Shop Manual shows no Schrader location. Others will know for certain, maybe suggest best location to check for presence of fuel, even if unable to measure pressure. Imperative to determine if lack of fuel is cause. How many miles on fuel filter, pump? The pump may not be operating properly, especially if you hear sound that is new. Fuel pump driver Module may be faulty. I wish I could suggest more, sorry. As a start, disconnect fuel line from ENGINE side of filter, attach a length of hose to filter, have someone turn key ON, do that several times, hose end in a suuitable catch-vessel, deep with small mouth, maybe a 2 liter bottle. If meager amount of fuel presents itself, filter or pump suspected, in that order. If NO fuel, likely pump or Module. imp
