2004 Explorer Ltd V8 electrical with engine dying

Where do I start...While driving the truck runs perfectly, when I pull up to let someone out, the door opens.....tire pressure system malfunctions, all the interior lights come on a stay on, the door ajar alarm continues to sound, then the car dies. Not with a shake or sound, just kind of no gas to the engine stops....If I take the key out of the ignition and then put it back in and start the truck, all is fine again until the next time I stop and open the door. Anyone heard of this, the dealer thinks it is the fuel pump and want 1200 bucks for me to find out. HELP

Any door? Sounds more like an anti-theft issue to me. Does it have an aftermarket alarm installed?
