I love my explorer, but is it really an expensive car to own because of necessary repairs?

Welcome to the forum. What part of Utah are you from? I live in Ogden.

My explorer has cost me $2000-3000 dollars within the first 3 months of owning it. I will have to spend another $1000 on it shortly.

Some problems were:
Warped Rotors
Pads were shot (not literally)
Diff Seal Leaking

I like the truck, its alright, but I wouldn't say its a great car.

The transmission will need to be replaced soon as the last owner NEVER serviced the trans until I got it at 60K miles.
Its got a loud whine in the diff.

I just spent $2000 on differential problems. It is supposed to be serviced at 60,000 miles apparently. Having a problem with the heater now. Apparently there is a known problem with the blend door breaking.

What'd you have done to you diff that cost $2k?

I've never used the heater on my explorer. I bought it in July, so if there's a problem I'll have to freeze in winter until I can fix it. Or I can test it out now. :D

Welcome to this forum! Some problems could be expensive such as a transmision or timing chain repair, but basic maintenance is pretty much the same on any vehicle (replace the belts, hoses, fluids, brakes, etc).
