2004 Ford Ranger Tremor
Ok, i know the basic's of cars, and by no means a pro. But my ranger just started stoppin on me, it's like its running outta gas, and just by luck i have costed to a parkin lot everytime, and after a few mins it will start back. Well it finally died on me at home and wont start back, i have gas in the tank, and i listened for the fuel pump and its not kicking on, so thinking the obvious i thought it was the fuel pump, so i got a new one and a new fuel filter, put it all in and hit the fuel pump reset button and it fired up, well i get into it and drive it about 8 miles and it dies again just like before, and wont start back no matter how long you let it set, well i listened and i can't hear the fuel pump running again and it's a new pump from ford, well i hit the reset button located under the glove box on the passenger side and still wont start. I have switched batterys, and checked the grounds, checked the fueses and relays, all good, and i also took a test light and checked the electric plug that goes on the fuel pump its self and its getting power there, but the pump is not running or pumping fuel, so i decided to try one more thing before pullin the pump back out again, i unhooked the fuel lines to the fuel filter just to check to see if the pump is running and im just not hearing it, and when i did i had a buddy turn the switch on to prim the injectors, and nothing, no fuel came from the lines or anything, so the pump is not pumping any fuel through the lines. I figured if the pump was working it would shoot fuel out the lines, but nothing came out, i unhooked both the lines to the fuel filter, no fuel. I dont have any idea where to go from here, i called ford and they are gonna switch the pump out for me another new one tomorrow, then i get to go through this whole process again. I don't know what could be wrong, please help this is the only transportation i have!!!!

Oh by the way, the engine is a 4.0 with an automatic transmission!!!!

Did you check your fuses?

Also, before pulling out the fuel pump, remove the wiring harness plug from the fuel pump, and verify you have +12 volts and a good ground.
