hi, my mountie seems be have lost some of its smooth ride and i was guessing its time for new shcoks. is this about when they should be replaced? it has 65, 00 on it also. and, does it have shocks or struts? how much would it cot to get all 4 replaced? thanks alot.

Do you feel the cracks in the pavement? When i did, i replaced them with OEM. Very Stiff to say the least and about 60k on them still running OK.

DIY??? If you plan on doing them yourself, you can make it very easy by using Monroe’s’ 'ready struts' which comes with a spring/shock pre-assembled for $180 each. Otherwise you looking at about $80 each and you need a spring compressor etc. If you take it in, I’d guess (reasonable shop), $86+1-2 hours labor each corner you could be looking at $400 low end to about $600 for a pair?!!!

Technically they would be called ‘coil-over shocks’ auto parts stores refer to them mostly as ‘struts’ which is another correct term, some even call them shocks. Some debate on this one. What they are not is ‘MacPherson Struts’.

With these they can be done in pairs, no need to do them all. . .
