Im no mechanic, but I do most every repair on my cars myself.
Ive had the motor/transmission out of my 70 Buick so Im not shy of trying things...

This Explorer has the drive by wire, and it seemed like you had to push the pedal 1/4 way before you'd get a reaction.
I went ahead and had Ford diagnose and they say its the throttle body
Its receiving the signal, but no moving until you push more on the pedal.

Its $750 for a new one.

I think I can do better especially if I replace it myself and/or get a used unit.

it seems straight forward, just wondering if anyone has done it themselves, how long it took you, special tools etc.

If I can remove one to clean it, I'm sure you can swap one out.
I do recall seeing a video somewhere that showed you how to calibrate the TPS (if needed), but.... silly question maybe..., have you cleaned the TB first to see if that makes any difference?

Tasca have a replacement TB listed at $334, or just the TPS for $67.

Dont forget to use a new gasket, only basic tools required.

Perfect!
That's what I wanted to hear
Yea I do plan to clean up my existing TB first
Could be dirty and sticky

Unless the housing is damaged, it's beyond me what can go wrong with the throttle body.
Ford uses weak self tapping phillips screws to fasten the TPS, with lots of blue threadlock.
I don't believe they intended for the sensor to be removed, despite being sold separately.
Thoroughly cleaning the throttle body and testing the TPS is the sensible thing to do first.
