Greetings Explorer World,

Here is my issue. My passenger side window will not go up. It gets more complicated. The driver side control will not move it up or down (made sure the window lock was disengaged). The passenger side control will move it down but not up. This issue exists whether the car is on or accessory is used; doors open or doors closed.

I have taken apart the door panel to gain access to the power harness to the motor. I pulled a dome light out...connected two paper clips to it for leads and inserted it into the power window motor harness. Sure enough the same results. The light will only turn on when the passenger side window control is pressed down.

This led me to this forum. I came across many of the forums discussing a broken wire in the driver's side door boot. I removed the boot and both thick blue (black stripe) and thin blue (black stripe) are rather snug and there are no visible breaks. I will say that I have not removed the driver's side door harness from the fuse box etc. Therefore I haven't confirmed if the there is a possible break up by the firewall.

This is where you all come in. Hoping someone can offer some advice and where I can go from here. None of the wires in the driver's side door boot looked damaged, but are there other wires I should be looking for? I am by no means an expert. Please help out if you can. Thanks!

Matthew

Welcome aboard!! :salute:

A lot of electrical issues can be traced back to broken/damaged wire(s) in the boot between the body and the driver's door. I found 3 broken wires and repaired them. The thin black ground wire was broken and after repairing it all was back to normal. When the windows stopped working, I repaired the thick black ground wire and the windows now work like a champ. I had to repair the pink/black wire to fix the driver door lock actuator.

Here is the thread for removing the door panel: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=303524

Here is a great thread for checking for broken/damaged wires, thanks to synyster for this awesome write-up: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=270081

Be sure to take your time when looking for broken/damaged wire(s). Check all the wires for breaks/damage. When you think you're done looking, look again, and again, and again. A bright flashlight can be very helpful.

If all else fails, here is a great link for troubleshooting the power windows, thanks to theofam for this great link Dead Link Removed

I have this downloaded and can send it upon request.

Good luck!! :D:thumbsup:

Please keep us posted as feedback helps others reading this post looking for a fix to the same or similar issue!
