2005 Horn Blows on startup Clockspring?

Horn blows momentarily on its own after start up and just as you touch the wheel, sometimes it is as you make the initial turn it honks.
On top of that, there was an air bag light for a week or so, now that has gone away.

Sure seems like a clock spring - and cannot find any save used ones on ebay.

anyone have a source?

@Argentimage I thought that I had the same problem on my '97 which may be configured the same. I removed the air bag/horn button and as I was going to remove the horn switches, I noticed that one horn contact assembly was loose, and I tightened it and put it all back together. That fixed the problem I was having that sounds like what you are describing.

OK here goes - not the clock spring, good thing.

Its clearly the horn pad.

See my write up about the cruise control for same year, how to pull the air bag horn pad.

The clear root of this issue is the horn contact pad, pics posted here has areas that pressure is applied improperly, frod design flaw, you can see the high points, and the spots wear thru on the contact pad match up.

Now these pads don't seem to be readily available, and whom ever is testing the used ones, buyer beware, well, this one tested fine too, out of the vehicle.

Until this is fixed, try not to travel behind a gang of Hells Angels MC riders...the results may not be seriously bad
