Hey guys, new to the site, but have a question. How does the odemeter on the new 06 rangers work. I have a neddle for the speed, but a digital readout for the odometer. Is it still cable drivin? I.E. There is a manual cable in the back, and the odemeter just reads out somehow through the speddo. For mental purposes. If i was to take out the cluster and leave power to it, is there a cable going to the back of it that could be taken off and a drill attached to it to bring the odemeter reading up a few miles. I'm not talking about reversing it, I know that cant be done, but can you advance it say 200 miles? I got off on my company vehicle on the recorded mileage, and need to bring it current. I'E. the report says 2300 miles , and my truck reads 2100. :thumbdwn:

Thanks for any help guys

Isn't that illegal? Because you're tampering with teh mileage in any way? Then it'd be fraudulent...

Just tell the company you messed up, better that then risk something more serious.

Rangers have not been cable driven since 1994. The odometer reading for 2004+ is maintained in the microprocessor or the instrument cluster. For obvious reasons, it is designed to be tamper resistant.
