2007 4.0L wiring harness compatibility with earlier models

Hey Al, yes that is right. I posted on here before I saw your email info.

To everyone else, yes these harnesses are scarce. In fact, this isn’t the right harness for my 2010 2wd. I’ve searched and can’t find the right one. Looking at charm.li and tracing wire by wire, my 2010 has a w differences. The vehicle dynamics system and the charging system. I plan to open up the new factory harness and retrofit these two circuits from my old harness into it. Would a simple write up post on this be valuable to anyone?

I think a post about modifying a harness is a great idea.

OK - it took some time, but I'm happy to say my Explorer is up and running again.

For those that are still looking, I can tell you that the only difference between Al's 2007 harness and my 2010 were 2 areas that the wiring was different colors. Every wire still went to the correct pin. Took Days of work to go through the wiring diagrams, then finally laying the old harness on top of the new, and tracing every single wire. Then confirming continuity in the case of the color differences.

After this, I had to repair the PCM. I ended up finding a local to me place called UpFix.com that was able to repair my PCM in about a week.
