The message center readout is telling me I am getting about 9-11 mpg in town (and I am driving very light on the pedal) but then I get 21-24 mpg hwy. Does that sound right for a 4th gen AWD v6?

I was expecting better in town milage:(

Comeon guys

What is you awd V6 getting for gas milage? Should I be getting better than 11-13 mpg in town?

how many miles on the car?
what kind of tune up/ replacement stuff have you done recently?
and mods that arent cosmetic?
any codes?

all that will help diagnose the problem.

With your V6 SOHC, I know many friends that drive these and are averaging around 15-16 city and 20-21 hwy. Some are higher, some are lower. 9-11 city is downright miserable, I would recommend doing some tune-ups such as spark plugs, air filter, wires, etc. Being so new, I am doubtful that it needs all of that, but it really does all depend on the mileage of your vehicle. Tire pressure???

I drive an 08 with just under 11,000 miles on it. In town I get 12 to 13 mpg and on the highway around 21 to 23. They're heavy vehicles and it takes alot of fuel to get that mass moving...stop and go just kills us in town. Keep in mind the cold weather (we have 16 degrees right now where I'm at) will reduce the mileage even further. I traded in a Jetta that was getting 20 mph in town and 32 highway...if I wanted great mileage, I would have kept the Jetta. ;)

Or drive the wife's Prius that gets 42 mpg in town!

I get 17 city and 22-24 highway with my 08 4wd

Thanks for all the responces guys:thumbsup:

I have 33,000 miles on it and it is stock (except today I have a magnaflow cat back installed ;). I checked the tire pressure it is right on and it is not throwing any codes. Air filter is clean(I am going to change that to a KKM as soon as they get back in stock) I also have 3rd row seats and that prob adds some extra weight.

Ill change the plugs/wires and see if that helps. I did not get any maintaince records when I bought the truck:(

Those things are usually off, try measuring it the old fashioned way and see what you come up with.

I get about the same mpg. 10 or 11 city, around 20-22 highway if I keep the speed down. I reset the mpg on the dash every fill-up and I average 14.7 on pretty much every tank.
