my 2008 F150 has been in the shop going on 4 weeks now Ford is trying to diagnose a engine issue, on my way back from the dealer my 2013 Explorer's A/C stopped working in 103 degree temps, sounds like something loose in the engine bay, compressor sounds? called the dealer and he's quoting me worse case $2,500 to service the A/C is this crazy? or am I crazy?
I have dual a/c control and front rear controls, is this right ?

ouch 700 just for the compressor. I'm so use to paying 100-200 dollars for a compressor, my 08 F150 cost about 6-700 total for a compressor replacement, withe dryer and evaporator. thanks for the info and link to Fords site

Many of these guys have huge markups on parts. You should ask if you can supply the parts yourself. Even buying ford parts yourself would probably be less expensive. I had a failed belt tensioner a couple of years ago and the shop wanted labor plus $150 for the part. I went out and purchased the Ford Motorcraft tensioner myself for $45. I know AC repairs are crazy expensive. Our explorer AC quit on us a while back and it cost $1,400 to get it fixed.

Ouch! Mine would be $200! Maybe the newer one is more complex?

I have read where others have supplied genuine Ford parts and had the dealer install them. They would also fall under Ford's 2 year parts warranty.
Just don't buy it from the Fordparts website.
Tasca offers it at even a better price than Levittown although Levittown does give members a discount. 2011-2019 Ford Explorer Compressor Assembly EB5Z-19703-B | TascaParts.com

thanks so much Peter and everyone else for all your great advice, I check our the link peter provided, although I didn't take it to the dealer yet, and there's really no one else in my area I have or trust to do the work. I hate to have 2 vehicles in the same dealership at the same time but with temps at 102 today and no looking better soon I need AC.
