2013 ford explorer xlt
Hello folks. New member here. I had a coffee mishap in my 2013 Explorer the other day. My coffee cup tipped over and spilled it's contents into the storage compartment that houses the media interface control module. My mapping is reading SD card error and I have no power from usb ports. I tried resetting systems and of course my final result would be the module is over caffeinated. The question I have is in looking at modules to replace the damaged one. The last letters on my modules part number read AD. I see modules available that have the same number but may end in AE or EE. Will these work? Also will the modules with the same exact part number but from a Focus work? Finally if I get the exact part new for an Explorer or used from an Explorer would it be plug and play or need to be programmed to the the system? Thanks for the help.

I'm not positive, but I think even new modules from Ford would need to be programmed. Fortunately, you can probably program it with ForScan. There's a link in one of the ForScan threads to where you can look up the as built data. As far as the part numbers go, have you tried locating parts on fordparts.com? You can input your vehicle information and get the correct part.

If the part number is the same, it will work. I think the last letter being different is just a progression of revisions of the part, and will work. I'm not positive about the AE vs EE, but I believe they will, from what I've seen on other parts.

This part should be plug and play, as it's not a programmed module.

Thanks everyone for the quick response. I ordered a new to me used module with the same part number. Fingers crossed. Thanks for the welcome Peter.
