We just brought home an 2014 Interceptor a few days ago. The dash menu shows oil change due, but I cannot get it to go away. All the steering wheel buttons are dead. I have very little experience(none) with forscan, but I bought a cable and I am ready to make things worse. Someone stop me, PLEASE! If there is anything I would really like, it would be the OK button to work. Is there a way to reset to default? Like using a toothpick into a tiny hole and hold for 10sec?

Might be a broken ribbon cable in your clockspring

I opened up the column and followed the cables. everything looks to be connected. I there a way to diagnose a clockspring? i have only removed the airbag. is there a way to find the proper position of the clockspring? When they removed all the extra wiring, they basically cut evertything and left all the wires dangling. I'm not sore about the condition, just want to get it into a drivable shape. We "fixed" the rear door windows, lock knobs, and door latch(open from the inside). There was the rotten egg smell, which turned out to be the battery and not the cats.

Anyone know of a Forscan tutorial site?

Does your Owner's Manual show any fuse for the steering wheel buttons? Have you been able to check to see if any trouble (DTC) codes are present?

I dont know where the fuse would be, but i did the forscan and it did bring up DTC voltage higher than expected. buddy told me that means grounding issue and check ohm. I did the as built "reset," but it looks like it didnt change anything. i want to try a new set of buttons or clock spring. The settings for the SCCM looks like gibberish to me so i did not mess with it

Would a broken clock spring show an airbag DTC? I’m looking at the wire clip into the clock spring and everything looks like a good connection. Is there a fuse for the steering wheel buttons?

If there is a fuse, it would be listed in your manual.

Good call. I checked 3 fuses all mentioning steering wheel. Funny thing also, the pedal mover switch doesn’t work either. And I see the buttons on the steering wheel do light up with the headlights on. I’m now gonna order new button clusters and swap them in.

The annoying "Need oil change" warning is GONE. I cannot explain how that warning bothered me so much. I ended up buying another beatup 2015 intercepetor for parts, not just the steering column. I ended up replacing the clockspring from the "donor" and the headsup info panel is functional with the steering wheel buttons!!! Omg, YES!!! I even installed a used center console(not connected with wires). This feels like it's coming together nicely.

I would liike to do a trans dran and fill next. Kinda jerks around 30mph( 3rd gear?) fingers crossed. next project is installing a full glass infotainment panel with carplay and backup cam. Let me know if you have the same issues. it was about a 2hr job
