Quick background

Got my wife a 2014 Sport 3 months ago. I insisted on the Sport because I hate any underpowered vehicle. I didn't even test drive it (she did). I have only driven it a couple of times very recently, and this thing is a dog. It's the slowest thing I have ever owned. The tuned exhaust sounds like you are making a launch in a sports car, but when you look out the side window there are pedestrians passing you.

OK, I exaggerate somewhat obviously. Still, I think I read a claim of 5.7 second to 60mph and 1/4 mile time around 14.5. I haven't taken it to the track, but I can tell you, no way even if I drove it off of a cliff.

Are there any known issues that I am not the first to discover?

Thanks for your time.

Edit: I know all about turbos, the lag, etc. I have owned a few fast turbo vehicles going back to the Buick GN in 1987. Even my F350 diesel is twice as fast with a stock tune.

One other note. I hear absolutely no turbo whine. The exhaust is loud and I assumed that it just drowned out the turbo noise. But now I am thinking perhaps there isn't any because there is no boost going on. It sure doesn't feel like it if there is.

Checked it out and there was a hose that was off. Much better. Thanks for the help.

I should have snapped a pic and posted but wasn't thinking of it at the time. It was very obvious. Top of the motor on the left side, say about 7 o'clock if you as you are standing in front of the vehicle.

You're welcome. That's what members are here for. Enjoy your ride.

What I don't get is why a check engine light does not come on when a vacuum hose for the turbo system comes loose.

This is a relatively common problem on any turbo vehicle so I am not all over Ford on the fact a hose comes loose her or there. I have vacuum hoses - particular the three to the turbo bypass valve pop off on occasion in my Saab with spirited driving, and it throws a CEL, I pull the code with my OBDII and the code tells me to check the hoses and I just put them back on, and reinforce them with zip ties tightly where they attach.

Since Saab throws a CEL and code for this in a 2005 vehicle, I'd expect Ford to be able to do it in such a late model vehicle.

This! My clueless wife is driving the thing around for three months just thinking that is the way it is.

Does your wife read your posts? ;)

Sounds silly the CEL will not light up. Unlike a lot of the other turbo vehicles out there, there really is very little whine when you wind this motor up. Does it have to do with the twin turbo set up? I barely hear it when I get this one going, but the seat of the pants feel lets you know its there. Way different feel than the 2013 non EB in my car at work.

Also, we had an Excursion with the 6.0 (yeah I know) for 10 years/135k miles. It popped a cooler hose off like most did before they redesigned the hoses. IIRC, no CEL but a huge drop in power and sounded like an old Kirby vacuum running under the hood. Interested to see how the other manufacturers are designed for the CEL to be activated.

Can you narrow down where exactly that hose is located?......did you crawl underneath to get at it?

Had a Duramax where the mechanic had to fix something for me.. gave me my truck back and drove off. After an acceleration at a light I hear a big BOOM and loose power.. No CEL. Drove it back to the dealership like this and they popped the hood with me right there.

Intercooler pipe popped off.. they never tightened the clamp and they even left their screw driver in the engine bay.

So it isn't just Ford.
