2016 Ford Explorer limited . Currently have a A11 with version 3.10, no problems. I tried updating to A13 ( 3 times, 3 different Amazon vendors) . Failed, does not recognize. Any suggestions?

Were any of those genuine Ford items or were all three clones/knockoffs?

Knockoffs. Bought from Amazon. Different vendors. Funny thing is that there was no data in them. I was not able to read any of the SD card. When I looked in my current sd card ( A11), I am able to open and see data. Does the new sd card A13 have a different file system ? Does anybody have an A13 sd card an able to see data ?

Buy original from Ford, 149 plus 30 delivery, should work though
I was buying clones from E-Bay and Amazon since A8 version and all of them were working.
Two years ago upgraded to SYNC 3 and now updating maps for free

I had the same issue on Amazon going from an SD9 to SD13 card and just returned it. The SD9 card I purchased on Ebay worked well, but SD13 card will not work. It's been a long time, but I also assume the latest software update is still 3.10. This is what one seller asked on Ebay when I asked if the SD13 card would work in my Explorer:

"Hi,

Can you please let us know the info below.

1. Determine your SYNC Software Version
a. Go to your vehicle, on the home screen press the “settings” icon
b. Press the “Help” button
c. Press the “System Information” button
d. The third line displays your software version
e. Record the numbers after “CCPU S/W Version”:
__. __ __.__ __ __ __ __
f. Record the Map Database Version: __ __ (i.e. A4, B4)

2. Look at the last five digits of the CCPU S/W Version and choose one of the actions below.
If your software version is greater than or equal to 12285, this update is compatible.

If your software version is 10337, 11038, 11063, 11081, 11134, 12023, 12156 – please visit owner.ford.com or owner.lincoln.com to update your SYNC software.

If your software version is 10212, 10308, or 12058 – your vehicle requires a software update from a dealer.

Best Regards,"

What is your 'Build' number? It is referred to as the "software" version in the post above.

3.10.16180 which I believe is the latest version, plus the last five digits are greater than 12285, so in theory the SD13 card should work.

Peter,
The 3 SD cards were empty ( as far as can see in my PC). Is there a hidden directory? Or just were bad cards.? I ordered an SD from another source. I'll keep you posted.

I have never actually looked at one of those cards and my vehicle doesn't use them. If I were to get one, I'd order if from Ford. The ones from eBay and Amazon have always proved to have issues, depending on the source. Most are just copies.

Of course, so are Ford's (copied from a master). I am not in any way suggesting not to get it from Ford ( $149). I am simply asking if any had the same issues. I bought 2 prior from Ebay, no issues at all.

Then to answer your question, YES, several have had the same issues. You take your chances.

Thanks for the information. Sounds like Ford became smarter, eliminated the copy cats and now offer it at a competitive price.
It has nothing to do with Ford.
Ford only provides software to read the map data from Navitel as well as provides key encryption. Every SD card has a unique key tied to its serial number and SYNC makes sure that encryption key is correct using special algorithm. That algorithm was cracked almost ten years ago.
I was using it since map version A6 to update my navigation for free.
Considering SYNC 2 was abandoned by Ford and v3.10 is the latest version for many years now encryption key is still being created by the same algorithm in order for SYNC to recognise it.
It was just a bad luck that some copies were not done properly.
I was selling self made maps myself but was always checking if they work in my Explorer, stopped selling them when upgraded to SYNC 3.
Even Ford makes a copies in order to sell them to you... They all digital, so makes no difference.
