- 2016 Ford Explorer XLT
My 2016 Ford Explorer started intermittently jerking at high speed (55 +) and sometimes when accelerating at high speeds. A service advisor thought it was bad gas and recommended I add fuel cleaner/stabilizer, run until nearly empty, then refilling with regular unleaded (no ethanol). I added Seafoam fuel stabilizer to a full tank and it nearly immediately resolved the issue. I drove ~400 miles no issues. Refilled at a Marathon gas station (91 octane, but 10% ethanol b/c they did not have regular unleaded without ethanol), and added one more can of Seafoam and it’s intermittently jerking again. There is no check engine light or other dashboard error light. The dealership is not able to determine the issue and wasn’t really able to recreate the jerking. They are guessing it may be the start of a a transmission issue that isn’t throwing a code and having their transmission tech look at it. Anyone else have this issue? Any advice on how to resolve and/or what to do if it really was bad gas (perhaps bad gas with the tank I refilled with)?
