I recently had the dealership replace the seals at the driveshaft and front axels, as the car had developed an oil leak at about 105k miles. When I got the car back, I noticed that it was making a grinding noise only when coasting. If you accelerate, the noise goes away. If you hit the brakes, you hear it as the car is slowing, along with the normal brake noise, the pads were just replaced, about 10k miles ago, and were not making any noise prior to the repair. I took it back to the dealership, and they verified the noise is coming from the transfer case. It is no longer losing oil, and I am sure I caught it early, as I pay close attention to any oil spots on the driveway. The dealership quoted me $4000.00 to replace the entire transfer case, which is absurd. The car was not making any noise prior to the repair. They tell me it will not fail. It is annoying, but for 4k, I will live with it. Just don't want to end up on a tow truck, I use this truck regularly.
