Hello, My Explorer was in accident and the shop had to replace the Audio system Amp. Ever since the warning chimes for parking, seat belt, etc are very very loud. I asked the dealer and they dont really know what to do. They want me to drop off, but I have been without the Explorer for a very long time already. This particular dealer is very busy and they service department is very slow.

The service advisor has told me they dont know what to do and try to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes. I did that without any success. I am getting used to the volume but it startles family and passenger....any ideas?

Welcome to the Forum.
I believe something similar happened to another member some time ago. I've tried a 'search' for the thread/post but have not had any luck so far and I don't recall what if anything was done to solve it. Perhaps this is something that can be solved with Forscan but I'm not that familiar with that tool.

FORScan can allow you to change the settings so the alerts only come thru the IPC (instrument panel) internal speakers...on 16-18 MY Explorers the line is:

720-01-01 xxxx xxx4 xxxx Chimes forwarded to ACM / Vehicle Speakers - Default
720-01-01 xxxx xxx0 xxxx Chimes IPC Internal Speaker Only

Ignore the 'x' digits and change only the '0' digit.

Please let us know how this is resolved.

Thank you for responding. Hope that works for him but he'd have to have the capabilities to modify the settings. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Are the body shop and the dealer one in the same? If you have a vehicle with the Sony system, the amplifier is called the DSP and would need to be properly programmed for your vehicle. If they failed to do that, that could be the cause.

I am guessing this was a side or rear impact?

Thank you everyone for their help. The body shop sent it to Ford Dealer to replace the Amp. So I need to take back to Ford Dealership. Logistics issues aside ( need a loaner vehicle) and the service department is very busy.

Anyways, the service advisor at Ford Dealership has told me that they really dont know what to do. I do have the Sony system and I dont have the equipment to modify settings. I hope that I can give the dealer suggestions.

The rear end accident happened in March and my Explorer has been in and out of the shop and dealer the majority of the time. Probably should have been totaled...Not a big fan of Allstate.

Make sure they program it.

The dealer uses the authentic dealer IDS software.
