Well after a long hiatus away from this group Im back. Last time on this group I had a 1st gen XLT. Well fast forward to 2024 and we have a 2020 Limited 2.3. When you take off from a stop, the motor hesitates and bucks then takes off. Its like there's a dead spot in the throttle just off idle. If I take off a more agressive its not as noticeable. I replaced the spark plugs and air filter and it smoothed out a bit but seems to be getting worse again. The engine runs smooth at idle and at higher RPMs. I was going to clean the MAF but I read conflicting information on whether the 2.3 EB has a MAF. Too me it looks like there is a MAF on the exit of the intercooler tucked up under the core support. There are no other codes set or pending. Any thoughts on what might be going on?

How many miles? Any work done on it? An all-original 2020 is going to herky jerky shifting compared to one that hashad PCM updated to the latest. Iwish the module update process was easier and cheaper but it's not. The 2020-2021s really need a whole host is f modules updated to eliminate a bunch of quirks.

Around 87000 miles. The car is all stock. It was just in to replace the Auto drive module and seat memory module so maybe they did any update that was needed? When we first got it there was an issue when taking off from a stop where it felt like the back tires felt like they were slipping then getting traction even though they weren't. That disappeared when the auto drive module failed and hasnt come back.

Last night I went out and looked everything over and found that the hose clamp for the air cleaner was loose(My bad lol). I tightened that up and cleaned the map sensor on the intake but the electronics cleaner I used didnt do anything to knock off the residue. Its a lot better now but its still there. I may replace that MAP sensor just for good measure anyway.

I have also read that the low pressure fuel sensor can cause these symptoms without throwing codes.

That's a lot of miles. Make sure to do spark plugs and drivetrain oils.

Auto drive module? like PCM?

Plugs were replaced a week ago havent done the COPs yet. Auto drive module seems to control adaptive cruise, traction control and drive modes. The car drove, but I couldnt use any of the advanced or basic features related to driving. Not the PCM. You can even read the codes with a basic code reader. Just drive, reverse, neutral and park lol
