I just moved to TX from Michigan. On the way down I got 22 mpg on my first tank. My jaw dropped. I've never gotten gas mileage like that before. I even double checked everything... it was true! Anyways, gas mileage is back down to around normal driving around town, bout 16~17. Just thought it was incredible that an X got that kind of mileage.

Your a lucky one. I am pushing 9 MPG. What am I doing wrong. I am the most conservative driver. :banghead:

on my 02 the tanks that I have used since I bought it a month ago I averaged 15-16 mpg city driving. Then I took it for a trip this weekend.. Had to go pick up a relative up in los angeles and I got 21mpg up there and back.

9mpg seems really low.. You must be a little heavy on the throttle..

Hell one time I got over 100mpg. I did have to go over 90mph and then drift it down a really big hill but the computer said climbed to 99 then stopped cause it didnt go any further:)

I get 17 or so in the city, and aroud 22 or 24 on hwy.

9 seems too low, you should see if you are dragging a civic or something behind you. :p

hey 96x, check your TPS and your O2 sensors.

22 mpg on a '94 is pretty good.

On long trips (over 300 miles) I average just below 20 mpg at around 65 to 75 mph. If I stay around 55 or 60 mph I might be able to match that 22 of yours.

I was going around 60 the whole time. I had to follow my dad who was towing our boat with a uhaul. 22-24mpg? dang

I've gotten 22 mpg on several occasions driving to and from college with my '97 Mountainer, and it has a V8. I could never get past 20 mpg with the '94 Explorer that I had prior to the Mountaineer. Both had the two package with 3.73 LS rear end as well.

11-12 mpg after the new tires :(

:nono: T
I get 22 on a routine basis driving south, when I drive north I only get 16MPG, most on this site will disagree as they do not understand that the world is indeed flat and mounted on a vertical aspect, driving south gravity is your best friend, going north one has to overcome inertia, thus the diff in MPG, one needs to be very carefull driving to the extreams of north and south as one can fall off the edge and should you not have a 4X4 and a winch one can find themselves in deep s$$T

When I took my trip in '97 from NY to Key West FL, I averaged 19.82 mpg going south and 19.98 mpg going north. I don't know what you're talking about. ;)

If the world is indeed flat as you state... then gravity should pull with equal force at all points along this "flat" world you speak of. :)

I average 29-30 MPG going N, S, E or W.

Al
Am certain you felt a little more side lean going east to west:)

flat earth eh? let's go find the edge!

I just got 14.8 mpg in town, my best ever for my truck!
Couldn't come at a better time with 93 octane costing $2.06 per gallon.

P.S. the earth is flat. It makes one heckuva waterfall when the Atlantic drops off the east side...

The water falls into a "dark matter" void, the gets transfered back to the other side of the world. That Dark Matter is magical ya know!
 :p
