"MOBY CRANBERRY", my 2WD 93 XLT shifts so softly and smoothly that I wish I could make my GM Grocery Getter do the same.

After 9 years in a BroncoII, however, "smooth shifting" is low on my priorities. I'd like a nice, firm upshift, like I have felt on the 1994 2WD's. Who kames a quality transmission reprogram kit for the A4LD? Is the preferred method to accomplish this with a chip swap or tranny cobbling?

And, is the Preferred Method simple enough for Las Vegas transmission people to accomplish in one session?

I looked high and low for a place that could do just a rebuild on my a4ld and there aren't many places I would trust. Luckily there is a place in Phoenix called Doug's Transmissions that is very good with the a4ld. Not only can he rebuild it for a good price but he can modify it beyond belief. If I remember correctly Gloria's Explorer has the complete list of mods you can get from him. This means it is kinda a 9 speeds.. It has manual lockup, manual overdrive.. and modified valve body.. I like the manual lockup idea but couldn't afford it at the time. It would be nice to decend a hill and have the tranny locked to the motor.. (like a manual tranny has)

Doug's Transmission....... (480) 964-4991

It did take him 2 days to do our tranny since he need to get some adition parts.. (we went almost 170k miles on the first tranny and broke a lot by the time we got it fixed)
