I am sure that due to the fact of the 2WD front bearing being so much simpler to do and the fact that the tear down and reassembly could be done by any average joe having paid attention even a little during the tear down, this is the reason why no one takes a moment to post pics of the spindle with shaft and the process of doing the 2WD. This is all fine and well but knowing full well how simple it is and knowing that when I replaced both rotors and removed the hub to show my step son how easy it was to access the bearings versus his toyota everything just simply came apart and there was no torque per say of the 30 mm nut and so forth as far as how easy I remember this should be.
After having seen all the posts and pics concerning only 4wd front bearing replacements...I am left confused without going out and first taking one of the front wheels off. My question is this...Concerning the 2wd which is what I have and now am in need of bearing replacement...Is it not true that I can replace only the bearing and race without replacing the hub unless there is visible damage? Or is it totally necessary to replace the wheelhub and bearing as a whole unit as it is with the 4wd. I am thinking not but all of the 4wd posts have gotten me questioning myself. PLEASE HELP restore me to some level common sensical sanity on this one
Allowing that I can hopefully get a little clarification on this without having to first tear down
Everything I find online and even FordParts.com factory diagrams want to show a CV as the source of the shaft on which the bearing goes.
Thanks!
