Assuming this is on your '93 listed in your profile.
It depends on the nature of the fault. The EEC-IV computer isn't very sensitive to faults in the shift solenoids. From what I've seen, there are two cases that will trigger a shift solenoid code on your A4LD: 1) A full open in the circuit or 2) a short to ground. No code means that, as far as the computer is concerned, the electrical circuit is intact. It will be up to you to determine to your own satisfaction if that is sufficient. It's a fairly simple DC circuit where the computer acts as a ground side switch, so it shouldn't take much to verify the circuit with a voltmeter and a wiring diagram.
