Many of you may have seen my posts regarding the crappy steering attatchment supplied with the PA 3" body lift & my subsequent posts about the Flaming River slip shaft myself & others have used to correct the binding that is introduced by the faulty peice.
After installing the new slip shaft I noticed a really loose feeling to the steering, which I interpreted as the difference between high quality ujoint steering and the primitive stock rag joints.
NOT SO! Three weeks of driving with the binding introduced by the poorly designed PA steering extension stripped out the steering gear(the box) so there is actually 2" of play (1" R, 1" L of center) before the turning of the steering wheel actually results in turning the front wheels.
With the wheels off the ground the symptoms appear as bad ball joints at the steering knuckles (on a '94) but its not (watch the column react to you moving the tire! ugly)
Any way if your steering feels funky be prepared to replace the steering box in the near future.
Hope this saves somebody some greif. The cost of body lift, slip shaft & now a new steering box, far exceeds the Duff 2.5" susp lift and is about what most of the suspension lifts in the 4" range go for.

Doug,
I don't really think you can blame the body lift completly for the worn gearbox. I have the 3" PA lift on my 94 EB and I haven't ran into any problems with a worn steering box. I will agree that the little extention that they provide is crap. The lack of handling it provides is dangerous to say the least. I ran the stock steering with the extention for two years befor switching to the Flaming River shaft. Unfortunatly I had to switch back temporairely because of a bad vib dampener in the Flaming River shaft, and although there is a big difference in the handling, I haven't noticed any wear in the stock steering box.
