1997 Explorer XLT ...Has anyone experienced the large 30amp fuse that controls the windows keeps blowing. I am replacing them every week or so and this is getting old.

After the fuse blows, it flashes the 4wd light on the right side of the dash...

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know if this will be of any help to you and with my problem the I didn't have any dash lights come on, but for what it's worth...

I had something similar in one of my 2000 Mountaineers. Sometimes when you tried to put down the driver's window it would blow that same fuse. Turned out the PO had installed some tweeter speakers in the front doors and they had a "transformer" (I don't know what else to call it) which must have come loose inside the door and pulled/shorted out a wire. Sometimes the window would work fine and other times it would blow the fuse. I ended up having to remove the door and take it apart to find and repair the wire.

Also, it happens fairly often that wires break in the driver's door wire bundle connector. This happens because the driver's door gets opened and closed a zillion times over the truck's lifetime and the wires eventually fatigue and break. This could also explain a short which is blowing the fuse, though usually stuff just stops working when this happens. The easiest way to check the wires is to remove the door (which is very easy to do with 2 people) pull back the rubber boot and check for broke wires.
