A 351 Cleveland is NOT a "Big-Block"

The 351C is a small-block engine! The rear face of the block and the motor mount locations are the same as the 289/302/351W. What makes the Cleveland "bigger" is it's BOSS 302 style cylinder heads - they are much wider than Windsor style heads. The 351C deck height is 9.2", so it is a shorter block thna a 351W, but, due to the size of the cylinder heads, it's overall width is greater than a 351W.

The engine in the pictures is obviously not a Cleveland, as it has 6-bolt, 289/302/351W style valve covers. The 351C has 8-bolt valve covers, like a BOSS 302 (and 351M/400M). Also, a 351C block has the theromstat location in the block (which the engine in the pictures does NOT) rather than in the intake (like a 289/302/351W).

any body out there want to sell me a truck like this?

yea thats definitly a 302 not a 351.

I don't like to beat a dead horse, but I have both 302 & 351W blocks sitting beside eachother in my shed. I've worked with both many times and in conversions on my old fox mustangs.
The block in those pics (after second install), is a 351 Windsor.
Look at the base of the distributor. There is about 1" rise to the base of the intake deck.
On a 302, the base of the distributor is flush with the base of the intake deck.
Anyone who has any familiarity with working with these two blocks will know what to look for. Can't blame anyone for not knowing if they haven't

351 explorer

I did not know this wed site was here. I don't check cardomain that much so I did not know.
The engine in my truck is a 351. Not a 302.

Welcome aboard, 351explorer! :)
You got one hell of a truck. You should start a new thread and tell us all about what you've done with your awesome truck.

351explorer, Your knowledge here will be very useful for those of us asking about the 351 conversion.

I myself will be ready by this summer '04 to do my 351 swap in my '91 4x4.

I've been in the process of gathering parts, info and prepping my truck for hopfully a less iritating swap project when the time comes.

I've installed a non AC heater box notched, ready to put a 2" lift on when it gets warmer out. I will relocate the rad down and forward as far as possible almost against the vertical brace/hood latch mechanism. This will be done at the same time as the lift.

I'm almost done assembling the engine.
I have the transfer case adapter, oil relocation fittings and fuel fitting adapters and will be trying to use MAC 351 mustang swap hedders I have from my old Mustang.

I still need to get a donor car for the trans and engine computer and wiring harness.

351explorer, What did you use for engine mounts, rad relocation, and computer/wiring harness?
