3rd row power seat 2006 Mercury Mountaineer does not fold down. I can hear the motor run but the gears must be stripped. The latch assembly is expensive and not very reliable so I don't want to replace it. Has anyone converted the power to a manual operation. I read where someone cut the threaded screw shaft and wonder if that worked out ok. Also where on the shaft do you cut it and do you have to remove the seats to do it.
