Alrighty, after seriously debating a 302 swap and deciding against it(I'm saving the money for a 57 Chevy) I've decided to beef up the 4.0. I'm looking for a 4.0 to build while I continue to drive this one. I'm looking at traditional HP methods, cam, intake, exhaust, headwork, etc. No nitrous or supercharging. Is it possible to achieve 220HP and around 275 ft/lb and still be reliable. I don't need a ton of power, just more than stock :)

Without a big power adder, you're gonna have to do almost everything possible.

Cam, port/polish the heads, port the intakes, intake, chip, mas, spark plugs, wires, exhaust, headers, high flow cats. Or you could also swap the pistons and jack up the comp. ratio. :D

At the wheels? Probably not without Nitrous or S/C. You could probably get close though.

thinking about milling the heads, cost less than new pistons. So parts alone we're looking at around $12-1500. Kinda high for that bit of performance increase. Not to mention the A4LD will probably blow once I hook it up :fire: I'm gonna do something with her, the 4.0 just doesn't have enough power for me, but I don't wanna break the bank either, I'm gonna be asking for about a $25k loan for the previously mentioned chevy soon. Well thanks for the input I'm gonna start looking for parts online and see what I find pricewise.

Yeah the thing you'd really have to think/worry about would the A4LD. You get into serious power increases and it's just gonna crap out on you. Why not just do a few cheaper bolt ons and save the big power for the Chevy?

yeah, probably the best idea. It's just that the X is gonna get lifted around may-june and want more power to turn the tires. I also don't like leaving any vehicle stock. I am gonna get serious power outta the 57 though, I'm looking to drop a 502 in there. Doubt I'll drag her much, just don't wanna lose any stoplight wars. ;)

If you have 3.73's right now then a few bolt ons like intake, exhaust, chip, and TB would do fine to recover some of the lost power with bigger tires. If you really want to do it right though you could get gears, although that would be much more expensive than all those mods combined. Haha, I hear ya about the leaving a vehicle stock. I can't stand stockers.

I hear you can add a Tornado for an extra fifty HP

Sorry, just kidding :)

This is where someone is require to post the obligitory:

I've heard that an R-Type sticker, "Fear This" on the windshield, and a resonator tip on the exhaust will virtually double your torque at the wheels... :P
