Hi guys (agian),

02 explorer limited 4x4 4.6 229k

so im working out these issues one by one and i think im getting there little by little, haha. so i have searched and searched on here and google, i have a ticking sound from 2000rpms up to 3500 or so, it dont tick at idle just when reved or when driving and the rpms reach 2-3500. the sound is isolated to the front of the motor, the dealership says its something in the pulleys possibly the alternator, he didnt think it was the timing chain and he definitely said its not lash adjusters. the sound is not a grind or tap or knock, it is a full blown tick. imagine the sound your a/c compressor makes when the clutch engages but repetitive and really fast, the tick does progress with rpms but seems to die out after 3500rpms it is non existent before 2000rpms. the alternator is only 3 months old, my tensioner pulley is kinda chewed up from someone using a pry bar to remove the belt, the tensioner also looks like it is not exactly straight with the other pulleys like its bent or something. i have run the truck w/o the belt hunting down a different sound but cant remember if the ticking went away or not haha. i would like to avoid pulling the belt again as it is a pain in the butt to get back on. any ideas? thanks.

-update-

while driving my wife home from work today the battery light flashed on the dash and dinged at me, more and more is pointing me at the alternator.
