My 2001 sportrac got stuck in 4 wheel drive....so after fiddling and cursing.... I removed the transfer case control motor assembly from the transfer case ( 4 bolts and a plug)and guess what the shaft sticking out of the transfer case has marked positions...take a pair of pliers and turn said shaft towards "2 wheel drive"....voila, I can now drive my car and not spend 300 dollars to tow it to some shop. AND>>> Thank you Rock Auto for a new reasonable price control motor,,,,and now I think I found a recycled control module. (They are dealer expensive and hard to find aftermarket. The control module on my car is located in the passenger side kick panel. I also read in another column to disconnect battery and reconnect and see if that will re-set the control module. ( you know 'the numba 1 computer fix', unplug the darn thing and replug.) Aloha!!!
