'96 Mountaineer
Hi all - I need to replace a bad bearing in the '97 Mountaineer alternator, and can't find much for guidance. They go together differently that the previous generations, and I don't want to mangle it. Any exploded drawings or service info out there?

Thanks,
David

Even if you had instructions, and the proper tools, you'll have a hard time finding the parts. "They" just don't want you rebuilding your own stuff; they'd rather sell you a complete reman unit.

Thanks for the reply - true, they don't make it easy. However, I already have the parts, and just need the info to do it without damage. All the parts are available (including130A and 200A upgrade stuff) so that's not an issue. But, it would suck to get it half-way apart on the press and crack the case because I didn't know there was a little retainer I couldn't see or something...

Interesting. Where were you able to get the parts? Is it a full rebuild kit, or only certain parts?

I have one now, that sounds like it has bad bearings, and it isn't charging. I would love to be able to rebuild it, instead of having to pay $100+ for a reman, or take a chnace on a used one.

So, any drawings, diagrams, or instructions anywhere? The parts suppliers are less than helpful.
