Im just curious if anyone has done this.
The 4R70w seems so much stronger.

Search button didn't give any results, and that surprised me. BrooklynBay suggested there might be an adapter kit to physically mate the 4R70w to the 4.0 ohv, but that's all I could find.

I'm just thinking ahead as there's a pretty good chance I will have trans issues this summer.

edit: Further searching tells me that it cant be done in a first gen. That tells me I'm out of luck. Off to the frankentranny thread I go.

don, if you want, i can give you the number to the guy that does trans for me. he is very reasonable. he also will not throw parts that are not needed at it, and tell you strait up if something will, or wont work.

Thx Tim.
I'll wait until I start having trans issues, then take you up on your offer.

James made out really well with his 5r55e in his turbo sohc, so with a bit of luck I'll be in the small percentage group whose 5r55e trans holds up. Although, I'm not completely hopeful.
