The '96 Expo 4R70W I've got in my Ranger has a vicious WOT downshift flare when dropping down into 3rd.
Absolutely no issues the rest of the time. Gentle acceleration offers up a smooth as silk downshift, it's only at WOT.
I've read of this complaint about the 4R70W on a number of forums, but I've never read of a cure. PCM? Throttle body? Anyone have an idea?
