both indicator lights flash 6 times every two minutes. The power windows do not work at any time that it is doing this and then all of a sudden they stop and they work. I have not had any problems getting the 4wd to ingage at any time. Is this a code of some type? All this seems to point to the GE module, I have taken the radio out and checked the connectors on the module and they seem to be fine. This is not a major problem, more of a pain than anything. Should I replace the module or do I have problems elsewhere? Thanks

Sometimes just simply re-setting the computer will elimimate these type of problems.
Try dis-connecting the negative cable on the battery for a period of at least 30 minutes, re-connect it and drive the vehicle for about 30 minutes under normal operating conditions.
If this solves the problems then your all set otherwise it could be a problem with the module.

Good luck,

i have the same thing happening right now to my 96 xlt. except for the window thing. in the manual it says to contact ford and so i did and they said to bring it in before using the 4wd b/c they have to hook it up to some testing machines and see what the problem is. they said if it doesn't get checked it could be serious.

I will try putting it to sleep for a half an hour and see what that does, Thanks for the input

Mine was doing the same also without the window. I spoke to the dealer and he said speed up to 60mph switch it to 4wd high, drive for 4 miles then switch it back to auto on the fly, then park and go reverse for 10 feet. I thought this has got to be some joke and of course it did not work. I just ended up pulling the relay for 4wd out and put it back in and it works fine now???

After you did all the dealer told you, are you sure that you didnt back up 11 feet instead of 10 feet? Just kidding, I have pulled the relays out and stuck them back in but have had no luck. The hard part is to get the X away from the wife long enough to do anything to it however at this point I am game for anything, Thanks
