4wd issues

my 94 ex has an auto t-case and it doesn't shift into 4wd. i know the hubs are toast so i have some new ones on the way. they are auto hubs by the way. what should i look for to get it working again before the winter. when pressing the button to engage 4wd the light doesn't light up and i can't hear/feel it engage. it worked last winter but has since stopped. thanks for the help

This will take care of your transfer case situation.
The one thing that I have to add is, in the thread he recamends using a piece of tubing for the bushing replacement. I used a piece of clear vinyl tubing from my dirtbike carb. It takes a little muscle to wiggle it onto the stud, but once its on, it is an exact replacement for the stock bushing thickness. Since Ive done that my transfer case has worked so good! Barely touch the 4x4 button and it engages imediately!

Btw, what is it that makes you think that your hubs are toast? Chances are you just need to clean them. When you put them back on the truck they do not get greased. Packing them with grease is what causes them to not function properly. I put them on with no grease but pack grease into the wheel bearings. When the spindles warm up from driving around the grease leaches down into the hubs and lubes them lightly. Try that.

well i think my hubs are bad because the little "ball bearing" looking pieces are gone and they are blue on the inside like they have been hot...

Ah, yes, I see you may have a point. I'd say they were toast aswell.
