4wd lights go out when headlights turn on

My recently acquied 95 is exhibiting some odd behavior concerning 4wd. I had the transfer case motor replaced saturday. today, I replaced some bulbs in the dash. When the headlights are off, the 4wd lights stay lit. When I turn the headlights on, they go out. I know the vehicle is in 4x4 because when I put it in low to try it, I heard and felt it engage. should I not worry about it, or was it something I did today taking the gauge cluster out? I never removed the radio console, couldn't get the 4x4 switch harness disconnected, so I left slid it back in once I got the dash apart. I wish I would have checked it when I got it back from the dealer sat.

How do I check the grounds? It's possible I pulled something loose, but all other lights/electrical functions work fine.

It is possible something is loose or not connected. I don't have the wiring diagram here so I can't help much on where to look.

I think that you must have pinched a wire or something when you put the instrument cluster back in. You are getting current fed into the 4wd light from somewhere. If you had a 4wd problem, you would see the lights flash instead of being on all of the time.

I should have checked before I buttoned it back up, but I missed a light, so It will be coming apart again next weekend. What a pain. the 4wd system does work at least.
